I’ve been meaning to post about my new tall women’s ski pants since November now, and am finally getting around to it! I bought the updated, new and improved Eddie Bauer Powder Search Insulated Pants II last fall. First worn in Montana while visiting our friends, I made snow angels in them, went sledding, and hiked in Galcier National Park with them. In December I wore them sledding, and in January I wore them cross country skiing. So, I’ve gotten some good use out of them and now have enough fodder for a review. 🙂
The last pair of ski pants I had were fine, but they were too big because I bought a pair of men’s just for the length! I typically need a 35″ inseam for jeans and this pair of tall women’s ski pants has a 34.5″ inseam length. (You can also get these in a petite 29.5″ inseam and a regular 31.5″ inseam length.) They are waterproof and insulated. I wore a base layer underneath and stayed pretty warm.
The thing I liked best about these ski pants was the built-in gaiters. What a cool concept! I’ve never had this feature in a snow pant before. So the bottom of the leg has an inside gaiter you can pull over the top of your boots. It fits snug because of the elastic and keeps snow out! After you pull the gaiter over your boots, you pull the outer layer of the pants over the top. No one knows you have gaiters underneath. I think this feature is genius!
The only thing I don’t like about these pants is the size. They fit me well enough and have an adjustable waist, but the legs are still a little bigger than I’d like. The smallest tall women’s size that Eddie Bauer makes in these is a medium and I guess I really need a small.
Other than that, I consider these tall girl approved for skiing and playing in the snow! I’m sure they’d be great for snowshoeing and snowboarding as well.
